What are you looking forward to?
Now that the fall semester is in full swing, it’s good to take a moment and reflect on the path that lies ahead. Coming back from the summer holidays is not always easy, as I wrote in a previous blog post. But once the dust has settled you could ask yourself three questions.
What are you looking forward to in the coming months?
Think about what you have planned or what you would like to happen during the coming months. What especially excites you or inspires you?
What would you like to achieve during the coming months?
What are your goals and how do you know when you’ve reached them? How does it feel when you’ve reached your goal(s)? Remember to make your goal(s) specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound (SMART). What could you do in order to get started?
What kind of challenges might you face during the coming months?
Think about the challenges you might face. How much of them are in your hands and for which challenges do you need support from somewhere else? What can you do in case you face these challenges? How have you overcome these kinds of challenges in the past?
These questions can help you to get organized if you feel like the return to work has been difficult. They also help you to realize that there lies great things ahead of you that you can, and should, be excited and proud about!
